Arisia, Inc. is a 501(c)3, non-profit, volunteer-run organization whose purpose is to promote science fiction and fantasy. Our most visible promotion, of course, is the annual Arisia convention. VolunteersAs a volunteer organization, we're always looking for new people to help out. Rewards include t-shirts and other Arisia swag, free membership to the convention, depending on the number of hours volunteered, experience learning many skills, and the opportunity to meet new friends with similar interests. If you're interested, email us at volunteers@arisia.org. MembershipMembership in Arisia, Inc. is open to all. Along with participation in the ongoing operation of Arisia conventions, members receive a subscription to our monthly newsletter, Mentor. Corporate (and other) meetings are listed on the events calendar. Learn how to become a member here. Mission StatementArisia's core mission is to promote the celebration of science fiction, fantasy and speculative fiction, and to foster a diverse and actively inclusive community of fans. Diversity StatementArisia recognizes that it exists within a society which marginalizes many of its citizens. We also recognize the specific axes of marginalization that are historically present within the fandom community. Arisia strives to build a community that is inclusive of all races, genders, sexualities, religions, socioeconomic classes, disabilities, ages, and any other axis of marginalization. We recognize that this is an aspiration, not something we have achieved. Our goal as an organization is to arrive at a place where members of any and all marginalized groups can experience equal ownership of the convention and corporation.
